Tinkering: Leveraging Loose Parts Play for Meaningful STEAM Instruction in Early Chilhood

A Talk by Kathryn Price Curious Kids Lynnfield, Curious Kids Lynnfield Visit site

During this workshop attendees will learn an approach for launching a Tinkering program in their EC setting. Tinkering combines Arts, Physics, Engineering, Math and Inquiry concepts to provide rich, literature-based learning opportunities. The workshop will include a granular look at the components of a Tinkering lesson, five lessons needed to pre-teach conceptual and procedural skills, an overview of Early Childhood STEAM concepts and standards that Tinkering offers learning with, and will include a modeled lesson with a literature connection. Educators will leave knowing all the skills and concepts they'll need to teach and use to launch their own Tinkering program in their classrooms!
