About this Speaker

delivered at the Indiana STEM Conference as well as a version that was presented at the Summer of Learning Conference hosted by EES."

"Michael is currently a STEAM Innovation Specialist at East Washington Middle School (National Forum School to Watch) in Pekin, Indiana. He has been in education for 13 years, and taught many different content areas. He has been a Special Education Teacher (focus on Emotional Disabilities), Middle School ELA Teacher (Co-Taught through High Ability), was involved in Computer Science for three years, and is starting his third year as a STEAM Innovation Specialist. Michael has presented material at multiple STEM conferences, led local and state level PDs, and has traveled the region learning/helping districts implement new STEAM initiatives and technologies. Michael says, “I very simply love the STEAM initiative. The freedom and creativity it’s given me as an educator has been so refreshing. Being able to share my experiences and how I approach STEAM with other educators will, hopefully, allow them to remove the handcuffs we have felt as teachers and get back to the passionate style of teaching that got us into this profession.”"
